Yes, it directly raises glucose. But it also results in other behaviors that raise it too. EG - comfort eating, not working out, drinking more, etc.

My glucose always goes up when I’m stressed. I’m retired and I’m finally able to do things around the house I’ve been putting off. Cleaning out closets, downsizing, shampooing carpets. I find that focusing on these things helps me. My mother had dementia too. I’m sorry you are having to experience this.

my mom (diabetic like me, since she was 17) says her blood sugar gets out of control every time she's living in a war zone. so yes, stress absolutely raises your blood sugar.

the actual reason why this happens, if you're curious: stress triggers the adrenal glands to release cortisol. cortisol signals your liver to dump glucose into your bloodstream so it's available for your muscles to use in case of emergency. excess circulating cortisol also increases insulin resistance. so your pancreas not only has to deal with glucose from your food but also these extra factors on top of that.

Yes, stress messes with my numbers a lot. Even if I eat the same, bad days push them up.
