I (16f) was diagnosed around two years ago with type two. I never really took it seriously or took my meds for it but recently I passed out and when I checked my blood sugar it was just over 800. I babysit my niece and nephew very often and I can’t risk that happening with them here. I know I need

Carb counting. That's what I started with. Docs told me to get down to 65g of carbs per meal.

So I suggest you tally up what your current carbohydrate consumption is for everything you eat and drink in a daily log then gradually decrease it that intake.

This also means carefully reading the labels too. Carbs "per serving" is going to make you realize exactly how much you might be over-eating.

Good luck.

per serving

Definitely need a food scale. People are bad at estimating serving size in general, especially when a "serving" is so damn small. Who eats just 13 Ritz bits? Because that's a serving per the label, and 17g carbs. Anything served in a bowl like cereal is especially difficult to measure by eye.

Weight loss is your calories in being less than your calories out. Every diet plan in the world simplifies to this one thing. The rest of it is a matter of keeping you on the diet and staying healthy at the same time. I knew a guy who literally didn't eat for a month. Water and multivitamins. Surprise, he lost a lot of weight, I don't want to think of the damage he did to himself in the process.

Get a food scale. Start measuring out your food to determine how many carbs you're eating each meal. Reduce your carb intake and you'll reduce your calorie intake at the same time.

I snack constantly, big problem for weight loss. Don't snack. When you do, eat carrots or something that'll fill you up without being calorie dense.

Keep it simple so you don’t get overwhelmed. I only do 1/4 - 1/3 cup of carbs per meal. I prep meals & do protien & veggies heavy. I don’t measure those right now as I’m just focusing on less carbs. I do have containers so it keeps portions better vrs eating on a plate. I notice if I use a plate or bowl I over eat. Using the same size consistent container helps. If I’m having days where I am more hungry I bulk my meals with “free veggies” like cabbage, salad, bell peppers, etc. I limit fruit but still have it. Prepping your carbs ahead of time & reheating through the week helps lower your blood sugar spikes. Long story short by meal prepping once a week, using the containers, eating slower, and just trying to be more aware of what I’m eating I have lost 130lbs. Still need to lose 100. Now

It sounds like it's time to turn a new page, and refocus. We all have to do that from time to time. You've got this! 👍

Not trying to be mean when I say this. Start exercising, stop eating so much, take ozempic or some other kind of weight loss drug. I don't condone using drugs to lose weight but at your weight and age, it's detrimental you lose weight asap. You need to change your lifestyle ASAP. And your blood sugar was 800? That's just careless at that point.

Use the Internet! Google is your friend. First thing you need to do is eliminate CARBS! Carbs turn to starch & starch turns to sugar. Read every label when looking at food. It takes time. I lost 65 pounds just by eating healthy. No more restaurants for a while. Cook your own foods. I could go on for hours. You get the idea. NEXT, start walking!!! Doesn't matter how much, just keep doing it every day. Once you start a routine, it's a little easier. BTW, when I almost went blind, is when it hit me to change my life style. Don't wait until it's too late. Remember once your body starts to fail from diabetes, it doesn't come back. DM if you need more help & support
