Are you going to see a specialist doctor outside of the hospital soon? I hope so, and that they should be able to give you much better advice on insulin dosing. Hospitals are unfortunately known for sending especially new diabetics away with dangerously bad advice and instructions.

Set doses and food exchanges are a very outdated approach, and they're just guessing at what your insulin needs might be once you're at home and out of the immediate crisis which brought you to the hospital. With any luck, you can get better advice soon on matching your insulin amounts to what you're actually eating.

If you're dropping low like that, please do adjust how much insulin you take before eating that type of meal again. If they're saying 14 and that happened, maybe try 10 units next time and see w
