Ozempic and phantom pain?

shared by: digitalamish · · 💙 2 · 💬 2 · Join the discussion

My doctor just put me on ozempic a couple of weeks ago. I’ve had a couple of ‘episodes’ where phantom pains are firing in my amputated leg. Has anyone had a similar experience? I literally haven’t had pain this bad since my surgery 4 years ago and the ozempic is the only change to my meds.

I've been on Ozempic since late 2023, and had no reason to suspect as a cause of my occasional phantom pain or sensations.

Sorry, this is a new one for me.

I didn’t experience this on ozempic but when I started Mounjaro I experienced severe allodynia and it was literally the only side effect I had.

However it wasn’t isolated to one area - my whole entire body felt like it was on fire. If you’ve ever had a sunburn bad enough to blister large areas of your body, it’s that kind of deep whole body ache combined with every contact with anything feeling like searing hot needles. Thankfully that only lasted about 48 hours with my first shot, and it got shorter with each subsequent one until it eventually stopped happening several months later.
