Getting backup Freestyle Libre3+....why does it have to be this difficult?

I had a sensor decide to fail about three weeks ago. Obviously ordered a replacement, I've had this happen before, and they send it out. I live somewhere more rural, and it doesn't come quick- usually takes 5-7 days to get it.

Issue is, I was completely without a sensor for that time until i got on

Your Dr isn’t limiting it. Your prescription will limit it regardless of insurance.

Well the endo writes the prescription, so technically he is.

But that doesn’t mean insurance has to be used. You can pay cash.

Issue is you need a prescription to get sensors. I have no issue paying cash. You just can't walk into a pharmacy and ask for them like you do a pack of cigarettes.

Yeah. You didn’t get my point. Never mind.

Would be nice of you to explain what I'm missing because I'm certainly looking for any option possible. I don't get your point. Up to you though.

No one should limit you on how the prescription is written. If you are paying cash there should be no problem in the writing for three months or one mont. insurance doesn’t feet an opinion.

There has to be a way to get a three-month prescription from your doctor. That gives you a spare for at least 10 of the 12 weeks.

You might have the wrong doctor. Insurance companies usually pay for what your doctor writes. US Medicare prefers 3-month prescriptions.

Walmart seems desperate to deliver my prescriptions for free. I wonder if they would do that for you?

Well I sat on hold for 34 minutes today and ultimately the robot said to leave a voicemail, left one with callback number, record information, and a brief messsage- nothing back. I'm trying. My endo office is remote, located in California and I live in Maine- so can't exactly drive by and talk in person, lol. A year ago I would've been afraid of a 3 month prescription because of the high cost I imagine it comes with and a living situation that involved moving around quite a bit, but nowadays with this work I've been doing I'd be all over it.

I don't mind going to walmart- it's about 30 minutes away. I don't much like delivery but that's good to know. My pharmacists are good people.

I asked my doctor to give me a second prescription for spares that would not be submitted to insurance. I had to let the pharmacy know it would be out of pocket otherwise they won’t fill it and tell you insurance won’t pay for it. Yeah, I’m aware, take my money. No way I would be without spares.

Great idea, if they ever respond to my calls I will try this- thank you.
