Diagnosed T2, but struggling to keep my blood sugar from being low all the time

Diagnosed as T2 for several years now and my numbers are decent compared to initial diagnosis. Occasionally I'll be at 140 or so after some food, but mostly been 90-108 when I do finger poke myself. I am on metformin 500mg twice a day, but sometimes I only take it once as I feel like its responsible
