They have said this since I first got diagnosed - 22 years ago.

This says they have had positive results from the I thinks it’s up to ten test subjects now with most reporting no insulin dependency for over a year

Maybe not this exact article but one of them I was reading said that

Let's just say thats its not the first time most of us have heard that. Or the 5th, or the 10th.

None of these will be a cure. They are just management, and difficult ones at that with anti-rejection medications.

I figure if they could make me a mouse, I could get a cure immediately.

If there’s a cure, the pharma money train stops

I'm always very sceptical of stuff like this. The cure is always just a few years away and nothing ever changes. I'll wait for my endo to tell me there's a cure 😌

Most of us think, " oh, sure. Call me when it's on the market"

Ima hold my excitement til something clears all the hurdles to get released and my insurance company decides they’ll help me pay for it.

I think it's coming. Eventually. Collectively humanity has enough craft put together to get it solved. Timelines, as with any research and development, are wobbly and unpredictable. It might take 5 years, 50, 120 or a lucky intern could ask a question tomorrow that solves the issue before the next weekend. We'll only know when we get there.

But for context, we've come this far in as little as a ~100 years or so, so you know, track record's on the whole looking good.

Best not think about that as it has been said for years now, instead look positively towards realistic developments that will come. Like imagine how good closed looping will be 10 years from now.

Eventually I’m guessing we’ll have a functional cure with pump algorithms being so good that you hardly ever go high or low.
