Am considering Stelo, are they recommended or are there any others that are over the counter?

The Stelo is the Dexcom over the counter sensor. Rio is the Libre one. There are limitations to these. No alerts, reduced range.

I just bought a pack of Stelo yesterday ...was delivered while I was at work this morning. I think 1/1/2026 is a good time to try them out. I've never used a CGM or Biosensor before so this will be a new experience for me but I'm really looking forward to seeing how my body reacts to certain foods in near-real time. I figure it's worth the $100 even if I only use it for one month.

I switched from Stelo to Lingo after dexcom messed up delivery 3x in a row (the sensors were a week late each time) and wouldn’t accept cancellations or returns. Lingo has been pretty good.

Both platforms are more bent towards people optimizing health vs diabetes management though so a lot of the tools are kind of useless (ex Lingo’s “lingo count” isn’t going to take into account your disease and our general propensity to spike more and more aggressively than a non-diabetic, even if you’re in range the whole time).

If you've used any other CGM, the Stelo is a huge step down in terms of quality of data as well as the software. It was never accurate for me, so I was very happy when I could go back to my Libre 3.

Definitely less data, which can be a good or bad thing. It's good for a quick read. I check my wake up number with a finger stick, and devices can be accurate or off by about 10. I can't dig into historic data, so I can't fixate.
