I recently had an allergic reaction to something unknown, is it true that having diabetes can create new allergies to things you weren’t allergic to previously?

You can develop allergies at any time

I developed cat allergies at 17 after growing up with them, and pretty severe OAS to tree fruits and nuts at 20! Out of nowhere

It’s not that diabetes creates new allergies. It’s that type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder, and people with one immune issue are more likely to develop additional immune issues over time, particularly during periods of high stress.

Could be the Rx. I was not allergic to grape. Then on Glip/metformin, I'm allergic to it.

Interesting, I’m also on metformin. I have no idea what I reacted to, my doctor just told me to keep an eye on it and if I have a reaction again I’ll have to see an allergist to figure out what it’s from
