I have 3c as well but that was mostly my own fault from having pancreatitis so many times. However, my insulin doesn’t work very well or even at all with steroids like prednisone, just something to watch out for as well. Lately mine seems to be in remission so I haven’t needed insulin at all, which is great!

Mine is a little different. I only got the pancreatitis once and it was from a complication of food poisoning that landed me in the hospital when I was 10 and Ive been living with it for 32 yrs now. So in my case it never went away after the pancreatitis resolved. RIP beta cells.

1)Yes, but thats mostly because Im female and monthly cycles and where you are in them greatly impacts insulin resistance. Even when it isnt, it could be dehydration that is causing the high or untold other things. We do our best, cross our fingers, hope for the best and adapt when it doesnt play out right. No way around it.

Ironically, Prednisone was a blessing for dealing with my diabetes. Before that I was miserable on Metformin ER. Lantus doesn't have side effects for me (aside from the rare injection irritation.) Where as Metformin would make me nauseous on a regular basis, and I couldn't keep my glucose in range.

With Insulin, I can actually stay in range so long as I'm relatively careful, and I'm not sick to my stomach all the time. I was also lucky with my GP. I had one who thought that I'd kill myself with insulin, because in my 40s I'm clearly not responsible enough to manage a medication that could kill me. But the more recent GP has been of the opinion that if the Lantus keeps it in

3c from Pancreatectomy at 21. I’ve been living with it for a long time now. My diabetes tends to be more volatile than someone with traditional type 1 because I don’t have C cells. YMMV.

3C going on 1.5 years now but mine was caused by pancreatectomy due to PNET (cancer).
