Diabetes Type: Opportunity! Supporting young people with T1 Diabetes in travel and learning mobility
DTO is a European initiative created to help remove the obstacles young people with Type 1 Diabetes often face. Through practical tools, research and real stories from across Europe, DTO equips young people to prepare confidently for study, volunteering or travel abroad.
Explore Project ResultsOur Purpose
Living with Type 1 Diabetes should never stand in the way of exploring the world. DTO provides clear and practical resources that help young people prepare for mobility, understand risks and manage daily care while abroad.
The project is led by youth organisations and diabetes specialists from Poland, Italy and Spain. Working together, we create mobility-ready tools that strengthen safety, confidence and inclusion.
DTO supports young people in travelling, learning and growing with greater independence, while also assisting families, youth workers and organisations involved in mobility experiences.
Opportunities to Travel Abroad
The European Union offers many opportunities to gain experience abroad: Erasmus+, traineeships, the European Solidarity Corps, and much more. We recommend asking your school or university for information, or exploring the official Erasmus+ pages on your own to learn how to take part:
